Carl H. Burgess' Obituary
Mr. Carl H. Burgess, age 72, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 23, 2003. Carl enjoyed and loved his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Audrey (Hoeksema), who he married on July 11, 1959 in Muskegon; 3 children, Carla (Robert) Beukema of Zeeland, Jon (Patricia) Burgess of Hudsonville, Kristin Burgess of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren, Nathan, Joel, and Matthew Beukema of Zeeland, Sara and Katie Burgess of Hudsonville; 2 brothers, John (Alvena) Burgess of Grant, Rodger Burgess of Grant; 1 sister, Adelle (Clayton) Nicholes of Wildwood, FL; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Angie (Kooi) Burgess. Carl was a charter member of Hope Reformed Church, where he had served as both Treasurer and Deacon, and was presently doing outdoor maintenance, had worked at Consumers Power Company for 27 years, retiring in 1987, and was a U.S. Army veteran. In retirement Carl worked part time for Muskegon Floral and was also an avid fisherman. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Monday at Hope Reformed Church, with Rev. Steven Hyma officiating.
