OUR LOVING HEAVENLY FATHER, I thank YOU for the life of my Dear Uncle Carl. I will miss him greatly, as he was the closest reminder of my own Dear "Daddy", Clare Messner, Carl's Brother. I greatly admire Uncle Carl for his determination of inventing, and the study of good nutrition...plus his willingness to share his knowledge with me...and EVERYONE else. I lovingly, referred to him as "Dr. Carl". He was a perfect example of how we should care for these amazing "Earthly Temples" that YOU have given us. YOU have blessed our lives with his love, and that love lives on through his Dear Children, my Cousins, Michael, Tom and Kathy. I have known Mr. Messner for over thirty-four years. While he was not my father during these many years I have thought of him as my "other father".

My thoughts and prayers are for not only Mr. Messner's soul, but also for his sons Tom and Michael. Carlton always wanted the best for them.

I will miss Mr. Messner's health food tips for me and advice on how to look and feel younger! The best time we ever spent as a family was a special trip and dinner at Thanksgiving in Frankenmuth!

To Mr. Messner's Family:
My name is Sharon Stradal, and I am the former Membership Director at the Muskegon Family YMCA, where Carlton was a member. I was greatly saddened to hear of his passing. Even at age 90, Carlton was still a curious, intererested person, a delight to speak with. After his excercise, he would sometimes sit in the lobby and get organized for the trip home. I always took that opportunity to chat with him, and he never failed to brighten my day, with his matter of fact perspective, and with his positive outlook. He was a great role model for many of our "younger" seniors.
I am lucky to have made his acquaintance. My sincere condolences for your loss.

We are the "back fence" neighbors of Carl. Our garage abuts his property.

For many years we have talked over that fence. We talked about politics, health issues, his inventions and our families.

Many years ago, our son Mark became great friends with both of your parents. His ball had gone over the fence and instead of hopping the fence, he went around the block, knocked on the door and asked if he could remove his ball from their flower bed.

Carl always took care of his house and grounds. He's the only person I ever knew to take down his TV antenne and paint it.
