Carol I. Butzer's Obituary
Mrs. Carol I. Butzer, age 80, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 in Whitehall, Michigan. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on March 4, 1941 to Fred and Ella Mae (Swaney) Loy. Carol worked as a real estate broker prior to her retirement. She was an active volunteer at both Mercy and Hackley Hospitals and was involved with Women Who Care of Muskegon County. Carol enjoyed golfing and looked forward to rounds with her “Besties.” On July 25, 1959, Carol married Jerry A. Butzer and he preceded her in death in 2013. Carol and Jerry spent over 20 years wintering in Siesta Key Beach, Florida. Carol enjoyed walking along the beach and watching the sunsets. She is survived by two children, Chris (Tom) Gooch of Portland, Oregon and Greg (Marsha) Butzer of Whitehall, MI; four grandchildren, Emily (Andrew) Hicks, Amy (MJ) Gooch, Ryan (Mackenzie) Butzer, and Erik (Madison) Butzer; and sister-in-law, Sue Loy. In addition to her husband, Carol was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Doug Loy. A MEMORIAL GATHERING will be held from 1-4 PM Saturday, June 26, 2021 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
