Carol J. Devendorf's Obituary
Carol Jane Devendorf, age 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Carol was born in Muskegon to Harry and Virginia (Patulski) Tyczkowski on March 24, 1943. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School, and then graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School. She worked as a secretary for Shaw Box Dresser Crane for 28 years, and then worked for 18 more years as a secretary at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. On July 2, 1987, Carol married Norman Devendorf, and they spent 35 wonderful years together. Together they enjoyed traveling all over the state of Michigan, spending time walking at the beach and local state parks, and going out to dinner together. In her younger years she was happy to be in a bowling league with Norman and her sister, Elaine Handy. Carol was an environmentalist that loved nature and animals, especially dogs and cardinals. Carol will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Norman Devendorf; nephew, Michael (Krystal Rose) Handy; great-niece Brittanie (London Haskins) Kammers and great-nephew Mason Johnson; Mason’s mother, Amy Johnson; and one great-great-niece, Za’Riylah Haskins. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Elaine Handy. A FUNERAL MASS for Carol will be taking place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The ROSARY will be Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM, followed by VISITATION from 10:00-11:00 AM. Memorial contributions can be made to Catholic Charities West Michigan.
