Carol Jean Donohue's Obituary
Carol Jean Donohue, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in Norton Shores, MI. She was born November 20, 1936, in Muskegon, MI to Helmer and Anna (Mulligan) Arnson. She attended Muskegon High School and graduated in 1955. Carol married George “Chris” Donohue on September 10, 1960, and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2018.
She worked for GTE for over 30 years and had a personality that allowed her to be able to talk with anyone she met. Along with her dogs, she loved watching wildlife, especially the deer that would frequently visit her back yard. She was also an avid Spartan fan. After retirement, she and Chris would enjoy their winters in Zephyrhills, FL. Carol was the last surviving of eight siblings and through her faith, will once again bring them back together.
Carol is survived by her stepdaughter, Janisse (James) Zimmerman; step grandson, Nathan (Aisha) Zimmerman; step-great grandchildren, Sam and Sky Zimmerman; sister-in-law, Fritzie Arnson; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Chris Healey, Pat Wills, Pat Dolack, Pat Fielstra and Sandy Giffen; and was a grandma figure to Harley (Amanda) Arnson and Amber (Alan) Mayville and their children. Along with her husband, Chris, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edgar Arnson, Donald Arnson, Robert Arnson and Richard Arnson; and sisters, Virginia Speed, Barbara Damvelt and Edythe Sklapsky.
A PRIVATE MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS in Carol’s honor may be directed to Harbor Hospice.
