Mrs. Carol Folkert, age 72, of Spring Lake passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020 at home after a three-year battle with cancer. She left this world much the same as she lived, full of love and faith. She was born April 20, 1948 in G Read Obituary
I met Carol nearly 20 years ago when I became a docent at the art museum; Carol was already a cheerful, seasoned docent whose positive influence seasoned our meetings and tours. She was always eager to share her enthusiasm and knowledge and had a great sense of humor as well. We will miss her. Marge Winter
I knew Carol as a fellow Museum of Art docent for 12 years. She welcomed me to the established group when I arrived as a new resident in 1999. She and I shared a love of children's books and illustrations, and I watched her model how to be a docent and reach out warmly to all museum visitors. She obviously had a close relationship with her children and grandchildren and talked of her family lovingly at our meetings. I moved away from Michigan 8 years ago and only recently learned Carol was battling cancer. I am so sorry to hear that she died this week. Her loss leaves a real hole in the museum community. I send my sympathies to her children and grandchildren. I will remember her very fondly.

I knew Carol through First Presbyterian of Grand Haven. She was an inspiration to us all as she handled life's blessings and challenges. The cancer battle was a difficult one - especially because Olivia snuggled with it as well. Her faith was always with her and guided others to be as dedicated as she was. She will be missed, but her memory and dedication to her family and her faith family will be with all who knew her as long as we live. My sympathy is with her family and friends.

I new Carol primarily as a volunteer at the Muskegon Museum of Art, where her commitment and contributions were exemplary. As a Docent, Collections Committe Chair and Vice Chair of the Trustees she gave generously of her time and significant talents. Thoughtful and generous, Carol will be remembered as one of the MMA’s best “Stars” and we are forever grateful for her time with us. Peacefully remembered. Frank Bednarek
I will always remember how Carol was smiling every time I saw her. We would always share a moment together when she came into the office --whether it was just a friendly "hello" with a wave and smile or discuss weekend plans or laugh at the matching Harbor Steel clothes we were wearing. I will miss her friendliness, her kindness and her laughter.
