Carol Ann Hirr's Obituary
Carol Ann Hirr passed into the glory of the Lord on September 25, 2024. Aunt Carol, as she was known to her family, was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 8, 1937, to Willliam and Henrietta (Pardick) Hirr. She loved her parents and was an example of dedication to family as the world emerged from the depression. Her loving sister, Kathleen, joined the family seven years later and followed that example of love with the proper amounts of appreciation and annoyance. Carol graduated from Denby High School in Detroit in 1955. She went on to study at Highland Park Junior College and obtained a Medical Office Assistant certificate. Now, an independent woman, she bought the family’s first car and chauffeured her parents and sister around Motown Detroit. She loved to travel, both internationally and to any new destinations. Carol worked for 45 years for Dr. Wolter and Dr. William Hassig in East Detroit, providing medical care and bookkeeping support for insurance for generations of patients. She was known as the “best shot giver” to patients receiving immunizations. She was also known as a quiet, gentle, and generous Christian woman with a great smile, a warm heart, and a faith stronger than most. She loved all kinds of animals and was an amazing “cat mom”. Carol is lovingly remembered by her sister Kathleen and her brother-in-law Gerald “Jerry” Fisher. She is also survived by her nephew Matthew Fisher, great-nephew Evan, great-niece Sloane Fisher, niece Amy (Kenneth) Tolliver, three great-nieces Jocelyn, Laurel, and Carmen Tolliver. The whole family is grateful for the gift of love, support and faithfulness that has been shown to them. Thankyou to St. John’s Lutheran Church parishioners in Grand Haven, Rev. Vergin, the Grand Pines memory caregivers, and Corewell Health Hospice for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grand Haven or the Humane Society. A celebration of Carol’s life will be held Saturday, November 9, at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church, 527 Taylor Ave., Grand Haven, 49417. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
