Carol J. VanNoordwyk's Obituary
Carol J. VanNoordwyk, age 82, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020. She was born October 23, 1937 in Muskegon to Melvin and Estel (Collins) Smith. Carol was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School. On April 6, 1957, she married Marinus C. VanNoordwyk in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2005. Carol had been a secretary and crossing guard at Hile school and had worked as a bookkeeper at various car dealerships around the area for many years. She was an avid gardener and a life member and active volunteer at the Mona Lake Boat Club. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Harbor Hospice and MediLodge at the Shore for the excellent comfort and care given to Carol and the family over the past year. SURVIVORS include 3 children: Pamela (Scott) DeYoung, Paula (Tim) Gardner, and Dirk (Joni) VanNoordwyk; 11 grandchildren: Jennifer (Otis) Black, Connor (Carlee) DeYoung, Lauren (Thomas) Dahms, Lindsay (James) MacEwan, Rachel Gardner, Melanie Gardner, Kyle (Lydia) Brown, Nicole (Steven) Kralevic, Stephanie (Victor) VanNoordwyk, DJ (Katlyn) VanNoordwyk, and Kristen (Kevin) VanNoordwyk; 9 great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Lincoln, Hayes, Lucky, Laura, Zoey, Aaron, Haily, Lucas, and baby Dahms on the way; brother, Robert (Ruth) Smith; sister, Doris VanDyke; sister-in-law, Lizz VanNoordwyk; and aunt, Vivian Hendrickson. Carol was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Bray; granddaughter, Jessica Gardner; and brother-in-law, Robert VanDyke. A private family service for Carol will be held. Burial will take place next to her husband, Marinus, in Norton Cemetery. MEMORIALS to the Harbor Hospice Foundation will be appreciated.
