Carol M. "Midge" Wood's Obituary
Carol M. “Midge” Wood, age 79, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024. She was born December 3, 1944, in Oak Park, IL to Merle and Patricia (Young) Dennison. On December 30, 1961, she married Kelly V. Wood in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on July 25, 2016. For many years, Midge worked as a bartender at Wolf Lake Tavern and then over 30 years for Aron’s Restaurant prior to her retirement. She was a member of the VFW Derezinski Post #7729 Auxiliary, loved working in her yard, and spending time with family. Midge was always willing to lend a helping hand. She also loved her dog, “Mr. Wilson”. SURVIVORS include four children: Kelly “Scott” (Mindee) Wood of Ravenna, Margaret (Robert) Hanson of Twin Lake, Elsie (David) Patch of Muskegon, and Patrick (Jackie) Wood of Rochester Hills, MI; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Jeff (Alice) VanHassel of Baldwin, MI; and several other extended family members. She was also preceded in death by her father, Merle Dennison, and mother and stepfather, Patricia and Joseph “Jeff” VanHassel; daughter, Marjorie Wood in 1962; and brother, Leon “Butch” Dennison. According to Midge’s wishes, cremation will take place and private family services will be held. She will be laid to rest along with her husband, Kelly, in Ravenna Twp. Cemetery.
