Carolyn J. Allen (Nixon)'s Obituary
Carolyn J. Allen (Nixon), age 85, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in Grand Haven, MI. She was born on August 18, 1938, to Walter and Thelma (Wood) Nixon in Muskegon. She graduated from Spring Lake High School class of 1956. On May 26, 1956, she married the love of her life, Jack Allen Sr. in Muskegon. Together they cherished nearly 44 years full of love and laughter. She was a dedicated employee of Alco-Flex where she worked as a machine operator for over 20 years. Carolyn was a member of the VFW Post #3195, where she was also the president of the women’s auxiliary. She enjoyed spending her time playing Bingo, reading and tending to her garden. Carolyn also loved birds, especially any and all things cardinals. She was known for her gift of gab and ability to easily fill a room with laughter. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and many greats, who also knew her as “grape-grandma.” Carolyn’s radiant smile and cheerful laughter will truly be missed by many. She is survived by three of her children, Jack (Pamela) Allen Jr., Joni (Kent) Collins and Kelly Robbins; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, David Nixon; and one sister, Debra Bolton-Nixon. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Allen Sr.; daughter, Barb Allen-Holm; son, Scott Allen; much loved son-in-law, Jeff Robbins; three brothers, Richard, Bill and Bud Nixon; and grandson, Isaiah Allen. A burial will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Lakeside Cemetery, 2201 Crozier Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Memorial Contributions in Carolyn’s honor can be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S.
