Mrs. Carolyn Mae Gibson's Obituary
Mrs. Carolyn Mae Gibson, age 85, passed graciously into the arms of her Lord, Saturday morning, April 19, 2014. She was born August 19, 1928 in Fort Wayne, IN to T. Edward and Bernice (Bair) Horton. Carolyn was a 1947 graduate of Northside High School in Fort Wayne, IN. She worked briefly as a secretary for the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District. The job she loved the most was being a homemaker. Carolyn was a member of Lake Harbor United Methodist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church of Muskegon and Fort Wayne, IN. She was also active in AgeWell Services at Tanglewood Park here in Muskegon. Carolyn was a great seamstress and loved to knit, but most importantly was her love for her family and friends. On November 6, 1971 she married Dale E. Gibson in Muskegon and he preceded her in death in October of 1996. SURVIVORS include 2 daughters, Linda (Bruce) Gilbert of Norton Shores, Lisa Steinbauer-Kohl of Grand Rapids; grandson, Brett (Jera Cook) Gilbert; two brothers, David (Mary Frances) Horton of Green Valley, AZ, Stephen (Gina) Horton of Naples, FL; and a sister, Shirley Horton of Fort Wayne, IN. She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas A. Steinbauer in 1969. A CELEBRATION OF CAROLYN’S LIFE will be held at Lake Harbor United Methodist Church on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark R. Erbes officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery in Fort Wayne, IN. MEMORIALS to AgeWell Services or Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
