Carolyn Ann Policha's Obituary
Carolyn Ann Policha, age 87, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025. She was born October 31, 1937, in Ravenna, MI, to Oramel and Margaret (Gilbert) Thompson. Carolyn graduated from Ravenna High School in 1955. She married Ronald L. Policha on August 6, 1960, in Muskegon, MI, and he preceded her in death on August 23, 2011. Carolyn was proud to be Ravenna’s first telephone operator and spent many years as a dedicated farmer. A former Dairy Queen of the 4H Fair, she also served the community as a school bus driver for the Reeths-Puffer School District. Carolyn was a life member of the VFW Post 8846 Auxiliary and a devoted, longtime member of the Twin Lake Gun Club, where she held the position of Treasurer and enjoyed trap shooting. Passionate about the outdoors, she was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener, embracing all aspects of nature. SURVIVORS include three children: Michael A. (Kathy) Policha of Clinton, Iowa, Richard L. Policha of Muskegon, and Rhonda L. Smith of Tucson, Arizona; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joan Thompson of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son, Donald Policha, in 1974; son-in-law, Dana Smith; and a brother, Wayne Thompson. SERVICES for Carolyn will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, May 8, 2025, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 (231) 726-5210. VISITATION will take place one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest in Laketon Twp. Cemetery next to her husband, Ronald.
