Carroll E. Carlson's Obituary
Mr. Carroll Ernest “Bud” Carlson, age 93, went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 3, 2023 in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on February 8, 1930 to Ernest and Hulda (Johnson) Carlson. Bud married the former Elaine Stark on December 23, 1950 and they enjoyed 72 years of marriage. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War from 1950-1952. Bud worked for Shaw Walker for 22 years and SPX for 18 years prior to his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bud was an ambitious man and an excellent carpenter; over the years he built several homes, he also helped family and friends build their homes. He enjoyed Big Band music, sports, helping others, making people laugh, and always had a great sense of humor. He attended Connection Point Church. Bud is survived by his wife, Elaine; children, Steve (Michelle) Carlson, Cynthia (Rick) Hernandez, Gregory (Pam) Carlson, and Bryan (Lori) Carlson; grandchildren, Lowell Webster, Dan Webster, Jennifer Webster, Nick (Lynda) Carlson, Adam Carlson, Lindsay (Asa) Carr, Heather (Steve) Isley, Ben (Rachael) Carlson, Jordan Carlson, Jack Carlson; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; brothers, Charles (Karin) Carlson, Richard Carlson, Larry Carlson; sisters, Eileen Ulrey, Dawn Bowen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rita Elaine Carlson and Lois Strohm; and brothers, Milton Carlson and Dennis Carlson. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Connection Point Church (2270 Mill Iron Rd., Muskegon, MI 49442) with Rev. Aaron Gregory officiating. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 and from 10-11AM Thursday at church. Burial will be in Egelston Township Cemetery. MEMORIALS in memory of Bud may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans or Connection Point Church.
