Catherine G. (Heeres) Tanis' Obituary
Catherine G. “Kay” Heeres Tanis, age 98, went to be with her Lord on Saturday afternoon, December 10, 2016, at her residence. She was born March 6, 1918 in Muskegon to James and Grace (Kroeze) Hoebeke; and had resided in the Muskegon area most of her life. Kay had been a homemaker and then an Administrative Secretary at Hackley Hospital for 16 years, prior to her retirement in 1979. She was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Charlynne (Harrison) Sikkenga of Norton Shores, Marcia (Louis) Plescher of Roosevelt Park, James (Linda) Heeres of Zeeland, MI and Randall (Deborah) Heeres of Cadillac, MI; 3 step-children, Judy (Alco) Haga of Ada, MI, Rev. Dr. Keith (Marti) Tanis of Seattle, WA and Rev. Marilyn (Mark) Borst of Atlanta, GA; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Kay was preceded in death by 2 husbands, Edward Heeres and Wayne Tanis; 2 brothers, George and Henry Hoebeke and 1 sister, Helen Sytsema. A SERVICE OF WORSHIP in Gratitude for the Life of Kay will be held 3:00PM Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444, 231-798-1100, with Kay’s grandson, Rev. Kevin Heeres, officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION with Kay’s family will be one-hour prior to the service.
