Catherine I. Jotka's Obituary
Mrs. Catherine I. Jotka, age 101, passed away January 7, 2021 in Muskegon. She was born June 23, 1919 in Hudson, Wisconsin to Fred and Laura (Cummings) Brunner, and moved to Muskegon from Custer, MI in 1945. She was one of the founding members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where she volunteered on the funeral lunch committee and belonged to the Altar Society. She was a lifetime member of the DAV Chapter 11 and the VFW post #7729 Auxiliary. On May 9, 1942 she married Kazmir “Charlie” Jotka and he preceded her in death on November 3, 1989. Survivors include 2 sons: Wayne Joseph and Paul Joseph; daughter-in-law: Darlene Joseph; grandchildren: Heather Joseph, Laurel (Russell) Brown, Kathleen (Jose’) Garcia-Corona; 2 great-grandchildren: Alek and Jacob; 1 brother: Harold (Jan) Brunner; 2 sisters: Rosemary Burtscher and Sue Mroz; several nieces and nephews, and good friend Donna Bogner. She was also preceded in death by brothers Fred and Harold, and sister Marian. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 14, at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 -11:00 AM also at church, with the Rosary prayed at 10:15 AM. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Custer, MI in the spring.
