Catherine Medema's Obituary
Mrs. Catherine “Cathy” Medema, age 69, went to be with her Lord early Wednesday morning, January 12, 2005, following a lengthy illness. She was born December 12, 1935 to William and Gertrude (Visser) VanderSloot in Whitinsville, MA, moved to the Muskegon area in 1969, and spent her last few months living with her daughter in Hesperia. She had worked for over 17 years as an L.P.N. at Knollview Manor, before retiring, and was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church. When she was able, Cathy still enjoyed golfing. She was married to William H. Medema, who preceded her in death on December 15, 2003. SURVIVORS include her daughter, Jill (Bob) Plank of Hesperia; 2 grandchildren, Carli and Caleb Plank; 1 brother, Andrew (Joan) VanderSloot of Croton; 3 nephews, John (Theresa) VanderSloot, Tom VanderSloot, David (Mimi) VanderSloot. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Douglas and Daniel Schottey, and 1 grandson, Steven Plank. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 973 W. Norton Ave., with Revs. Mark Sterken and Jonathan Rager officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM this evening at The Walburn Chapel,Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.,1547 W.
