Catherine "Kay" Shaw's Obituary
Catherine“Kay” Shaw, age 85, of Spring Lake passed away Friday, March 9, 2007 at Hackley Visiting Nurses Hospice House in Muskegon following a lengthy illness. She was born March 30, 1921, to Edward and Anna (Hoekinga) DeGraaf in Spring Lake. Catherine married Lester Shaw on December 7, 1945 in Grand Haven, and he preceded her in death on July 25, 1975.
Catherine was a life long resident of the area and had been employed at Spring Lake Schools in the food service department, active with the VFW Auxiliary Post #2326 and enjoyed reading and playing cards.
Catherine is lovingly survived by 3 daughters: Sandra (Joe) Blunt, Pam (Cavin) Mohrhardt, Linda (Phil) Nass, 2 sons: Lester (Nancy) Shaw and Mark Shaw; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, a sister, Betty Bazany, special niece, Charlene Shaw, special friends Kathy & Larry Price and family and extended family and friends at Oakcrest Living Center. She was preceded in death by her grandson Phillip James Nass II, 2 sisters; Sarah VanWeelden, Jenny Merizon and 3 brothers; Peter, Arnie and John DeGraff.
The service for Catherine will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family Monday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Spring Lake funeral home where a VFW Auxiliary Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Spring Lake Cemetery.
