Catherine P. "Dolly" Elliott's Obituary
Mrs. Catherine P. “Dolly” Elliott, age 90, passed away Friday morning, March 25, 2005 at a local nursing home. She was born November 17, 1914 in Kouts, IN to James Burton and Edna Loretta (Koehler) Smith and lived in the area most of her life. On August 30, 1940, she married Clifford Bradley in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on May 26, 1957. On October 20, 1962, she married Taylor B. Elliott in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on November 24, 1979. Prior to retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper for 31 years at GTE. She also worked at the Norge, and Continental Motors during WWII. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the Ruth Circle ELC Women. She was also a life member of the Genesis Chapter #88 Order of the Eastern Star. Dolly was also active in the GTE Retirees Group, was the secretary treasurer of the Local Union HOG IBEW and the Muskegon Labor Council. SURVIVORS include her brother, Frank (Jeannette) Gordon of North Muskegon; nieces and nephews, Mark Steven (Debbie) Gordon of Muskegon, Gregory K. (Paula) Gordon of St. Joseph, Sue (Dan) Gordon Gobel of Bedford, NH, Sandra (Gerald) Anderson of Muskegon, Sharron LeMieux of Traverse City; Lisa (Mike) George of Muskegon; several great-nephews and great-nieces; former sister-in-law, Mary Benson of Indiana; and her special friend and travel companion, Eileen Horton of Muskegon. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and 2 brothers, Gail K. (Alma) Gordon and Archie P. Gordon. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Karen Biggerstaff officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Mona View Cemetery. VISITATION with Dolly’s family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210.
