Ceaphus P. Anderson, Jr. "C.P."'s Obituary
Ceaphus P. Anderson Jr. “C.P.”, age 83, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023 in Muskegon, MI.
He was born September 24, 1939, to Rev. Ceaphus P. Anderson Sr. and Virgil Lee Poe in Bienville, LA. On March 5, 1998, he married the former Beverly J. Bolton in Muskegon, MI and she survives him. C.P. worked at various jobs including Lakey’s Foundry and CWC before finally retiring from Sealed Power/Dana Corporation in 2002. He enjoyed playing basketball in high school and subsequently racing cars and fishing as an adult. In later years he was a figure at the sporting events for his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly J. Anderson of Muskegon; his children, Tony Anderson of Big Sky, MT, Lisa Anderson of Muskegon Heights, MI, Shandra (Todd) Smith of North Muskegon, MI, Kimberly (Andrew) Sims of Muskegon Heights, MI, Sheena Bolton of Portage, MI, Derrick (Heather) Bolton of Muskegon, MI, Shawanna (Darrick) Evans of Muskegon, MI; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Perry (Diane) Anderson of Athol, Idaho, Emma Jean Malone of Wiley, TX, Emma Louis (Gregory Sr.) Route of Franklin, LA, Henry James (Veronica) Anderson of Shreveport, LA, Omie (Rev. Dr. Marvin) Smith of Saginaw, MI and Larry (Sheila) Anderson of Shreveport, LA and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends.
C.P. was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgian (Anderson) Roberson; father, Rev. Ceaphus P. Anderson Sr.; mother, Virgie Lee Poe; step-mother, Essie B. Anderson; children, Jerry (Williette E. Coach) Anderson; grandchildren, Hayden Bolton, Mason Bolton and Maddox Bolton; siblings, Bonnie Fowler and Author James Anderson Sr. and nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, friends and pets.
Services for C.P. will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 24, 2023 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Reverend Dr. Marvin Smith officiating. You may sign his online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com.
