Cecil Hammond's Obituary
Mr. Cecil Hammond, age 91, of Spring Lake was called home by his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 25, 2023. He was born January 1, 1932, in Caldwell Twp. to Samuel and Vivian (Alyua) Hammond. On May 6, 1955, he married Janice Wierenga in Spring Lake.
Cecil worked for Anderson Bolling and Keur Industries before retiring. He enjoyed fishing every day, but Sunday, memorizing scripture, sharing his faith with others, gardening, having a sweet tooth, and most of all loving his family. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Janice; ten children: Bruce (Gerale) Hammond, Sherri (Kent) Spear, Bryan (Vickie) Hammond, David (Marci) Hammond, Jan (Randy) Rynbrandt, Craig (Dionne) Hammond, Joseph (Amber) Hammond, Cecil (Shelly) Hammond, Julie (Chris) Juntunen, Kristen (Chad) VanderHeide; twenty seven grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; sister, Charlene Swanson; brothers; Sam (Lynne) Hammond, Dale (Judy) Hammond; sister-in-law, Beverly Hammond. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashlyn; brother, Harvey Hammond.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417. Visitation will be held 12:30-2:00 PM before the service at the funeral home. Memorials in memory of Cecil may be given to Careline Hospice. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery.
