Cecilia Marie Galarneau's Obituary
Mrs. Cecilia M. Galarneau, age 82, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 14, 2016. She was born in Holton, Michigan on January 1, 1934 to Carl T. and Nora “Josephine” (Ferrier) Kraus and had lived all of her life in the Muskegon area. On September 26, 1953, Cecilia married William J. “Bill” Galarneau in Muskegon and they had eight children. She was a devoted mother, a dedicated school room mom, and a PTA member. After her children finished school, Cecilia had worked at JC Penny for 15 years before her retirement in 1995. She continued to meet with the Widows Club. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, was active with the sewing bee, and administered home bound outreach. Cecilia is survived by eight children, Marie (Clifford) Hurley, Robert (Sally) Galarneau, Donna (Robert) LeMieux, James (Nicki) Galarneau, Donald Galarneau, Frank (Rhonda) Galarneau, Charles (Cathy) Galarneau and Joseph (Janice) Galarneau; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Katherine) Kraus; sister-in-law, Marlyn Kraus and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Galarneau; her parents; brother, Jerry Kraus and sister, Mary Mierle. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Peter Vu presiding. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with the ROSARY prayed at 5 PM. Visitation will also be one hour prior to her service Thursday at church. BURIAL will be in Norton Cemetery. MEMORIALS may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Johnson Family Cancer Center or Harbor Hospice.
