Cecil W. Dake's Obituary
Mr. Cecil W. Dake, age 89, died Friday, February 20, 2009 in Muskegon. He was born March 30, 1919 in Denver Township, MI to Gilbert and Almeda (Grove) Dake, and resided in the area most of his life. Mr. Dake was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country in World War II. He worked for Teledyne Continental Motors for 38 years, before retiring in 1978, and was a member of the Muskegon Heights Eagles. On October 24, 1947 he married the former Katherine Buitendorp and she preceded him in death on July 27, 1983. He was also preceded in death by son, Richard Dake; daughters, Marlene Wallace and Kerry Humphrey; 3 brothers; and special friend, Eileen Hewitt. SURVIVORS include, son-in-law, Lane Humphreys of Fruitport; 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. SERVICES will be 1PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210. VISITATION with the family 1 hour prior, from 12-1PM. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
