Celester McCarty's Obituary
Trustee Celester McCarty left his earthly home on Friday, December 23, 2022, to be with the Lord. Celester was born on May 17, 1943 to the union of Morris and Villa (Wallace) McCarty. He was born in Shubuta, Mississippi. Celester moved to Muskegon as a child with his mother. On his initial arrival to Muskegon his family joined Spring Street Baptist Church. Later in life he joined New Mt. Zion under Rev. James Witcher. Upon Rev. Witcher’s passing he served under Rev. Allen Ray Bolton. He was a faithful member until his death. He received his education through Muskegon Public Schools and later served in the United States Air Force for five years and the Army National Guard for 16 years. He was married for 18 years to the love of his life, Betty Nicholson. He worked for a number of years as a manager for All Phase Electric and he enjoyed golfing. Trustee McCarty leaves to cherish his wife, Betty McCarty; daughters, Shandra Wallace and Tamara (Christine) Wallace; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; brother, Willie May; sisters, Jackie Shambley and Diane McCarty; and his best friend, Cliff Gause. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wesley May; and sister, Shirley Wilkson. The family of Trustee Celester McCarty would like to extend our gratitude to our many friends and loved ones during our time of bereavement and during his homegoing. SERVICES will be 1:00PM Friday, December 30, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Rev. Clarence Guy and Rev.
