Charles J. "Skip" Bazany's Obituary
Charles John “Skip” Bazany, age 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025. He was born April 4, 1945, in Kingston, New York, to Paul and Lucy (Patterson) Bazany. Skip proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He worked for Structural Concepts, where he served as a supervisor for 25 years and later for the United States Post Office before retiring. On August 25, 1990, he married Marquita Sue Cordle in Muskegon, MI, and she survives him. Skip was a member of VFW Post #2326 in Grand Haven and American Legion Post #28. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for camping, hunting, and fishing. Most importantly, he was a devoted family man who valued time with his family. He will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS include his wife, Marquita; four children, Wendi (Scott) Schaner, Kerri Christianson, Joshua (Sheila Lownsberry) Charnes, and Connor Charnes; five grandchildren, Kyle Christianson, Arden (Finley) Bounyavong, Mason Charnes, Reed Schaner, and Dylan Schaner; two great-grandchildren, Aubree and Reign; brother, Bruce (Kitty) Bazany; four sisters, Chery (Jack) DeMarse, Lori Plooster, Susan (Mike) Corcoran, and Stacie (Pat) Halloran; sister-in-law, Michelle Bazany; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Charnes; and brother, Scott Bazany. A Celebration of Skip’s Life will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, December 18, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100, along with full Military Honors. Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the service.
