Mr. Charles "Ken" Becker's Obituary
Mr. Charles K. “Ken” Becker, 91, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in Jenison. Ken was born February 20, 1927 to Philip and Ruth (Burns) Becker in Festus, MO, and moved to the Muskegon area in 1945. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, had worked in the sales department of both Medendorp Auto Parts and Matsons for 44 years before retiring in 1991. Ken was a longtime member of Lakeside Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and shot his age when he was in his 80’s. After retirement he helped out at Chase Hammond Golf Course in Muskegon and the Southern Dunes Golf Course in Haines City, FL. On July 15, 1949 he married Rose Ann Brown. Ken and Rose were married for 65 years before she preceded him in death on February 10, 2015. They were very dedicated to their children and grandchildren, attending sporting events, band concerts and Grandparents Day whenever they were able. Survivors include 2 children: Brenda (John) Bol of Jenison, Charles “Chuck” (Christie) Becker of Erlanger, KY; 4 grandchildren: Christopher (Holli) Bol, Lisa (Matt) Rizzo, Aaron (Kaitlin) Becker, Matthew (Kristin) Becker; and a special great-grandson: Jack Bol; sister-in-law: Mae Becker; many nieces and nephews. Ken was also preceded in death by his parents; and 1 brother: Norvel “Ray” Becker. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 9, at 2:00 PM at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565, with Rev. Marc Nelesen officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service on Friday.
