Mr. Charles M. Brockwell's Obituary
Charlie passed away on March 28, 2013 at home, from diabetes and kidney disease. He was born to Charles and Anne (Wade) Brockwell on 1/23/45 in Muskegon and spent his life here. On April 21, 1973 he married the former Nancy McConnell. He loved his family, friends and food…in that order. He managed the US 31 Barbeque for nearly 20 years and then he and Nancy operated the Family Inn Restaurant and Catering in Rothbury. He was a groundskeeper at the Thoroughbred Golf Club and Supervisor of the Food Service at the Muskegon County Jail. Charlie was a member of the Grant Township Fire Department, the Oceana County Arson Squad, and Muskegon Motorcycle Club. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Joyann (partner Brenda Hillman) of Lansing; his mother, Ann Ferguson; and his sister, Alma (Larry) Darling all of New Era. Surviving also are his sister, Lori (Mike) Franklin; their boys, Charles and William of Grand Haven; in-laws, George and Carol McConnell of Fort Pierce, FL; and many other in-laws, nieces, nephews, good friends and his little dog, Lacey. He was predeceased by his father, Charles H. Brockwell; his infant sister, Annie; aunts, uncles, and his grandparents, all from Paris, TN. There will be no services as per Charlie’s wishes. He will be cremated and shared with the great outdoors where he loved to hunt, fish, and ride his Harley. In lieu of flowers please consider the family expense fund or Harbor Hospice, of Muskegon.
