Charles R. "Ray" Cleveland's Obituary
Charles Ramon “Ray” Cleveland, age 83, passed away Saturday morning, October 8, 2016. He was born September 23, 1933 in Muskegon to Harry L. and Leah (Smith) Cleveland. Ray was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. On February 14, 1953 he married Rosemary Karcinski in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on October 24, 2012. Ray worked for Anaconda Wire and Cable Co. for almost 30 years and then worked for Fitzpatrick Electric 12 years until his retirement. He was a member of Temple United Methodist Church. Ray enjoyed having coffee with friends, country music, jamborees, and learning about military history. Most of all, Ray loved spending time with family, playing games with them, traveling, and going to all of his grandchildren’s events. SURVIVORS include three children: Steven R. (Michealle) Cleveland, Brenda R. (Bob) Huizenga, and Cindy R. (Don) Terpstra all of North Muskegon; 9 grandchildren: David (Susan) Cleveland, Michael (Christie) Cleveland, Cherish (Les) Meyette, Keith (Kelsey) Terpstra, Kevin (Kristin) Terpstra, Marcie (Pat) Van Tol, Katie (Dustin Bauder) Terpstra, Kacey (Adam) Swain, and Christen Huizenga; 21 great-grandchildren; his fiancée, Sheryl Simms; three brothers, Harry R. (Marva) Cleveland, Robert Cleveland, and Richard (Julie) Cleveland; four sisters, Glenna Drummond, Gloria Bates, Esther (Keith) Hill, and Judy McPheron; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Cleveland. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Temple United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Bowman officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 4-8 PM Wednesday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210. Burial will take place in Laketon Twp. Cemetery.
