Charles F. Devenport's Obituary
Mr. Charles F. “Chuck” Devenport, age 80, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 in Muskegon. He was born on April 15, 1934 in Muskegon to Charles Arthur and Dorothy (McClain) Devenport, and resided in the area all of his life. Chuck worked at SPX/Hy-Lyft for 41 years, before retiring in 1992. He loved spending time with his family and sharing a good laugh. Chuck loved his country, and was a member of American Legion Post 9. He was also a lifetime member of the Eagles Arie 668 and the Mona Lake Boating Club. On November 14, 1953, he married the former Beverly Young, and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. SURVIVORS include his wife, Beverly; two daughters, Barb (Dennis) Whiteman and their children, Matt (Shaké Broukian) Whiteman and Andy Whiteman; and daughter, Marsha (Jeff) Gale and their children Jen Gale and Josh Gale; along with great grandson, Charlie Whiteman. Chuck was preceded in death by two children, Linda and Michael; sister, Beverly Bouwcamp; and his parents. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00-2:00PM Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Mona Lake Boating Club (372 Randall Rd.).
