Charles A. Klug's Obituary
Charles A. “Charlie” Klug, age 73, went to his Heavenly home Monday morning, July 15, 2019. He was born July 1, 1946 in Muskegon to Albert and Viola (Roth) Klug. On May 18, 1968 he married the former Carolyn Makinen in Muskegon. Charlie had worked 2 years for Dresser Industries and then over 40 years for the Muskegon Chronicle prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church where he was an assistant to the Treasurer, sang in the choir, and served on the Stewardship Committee. Charlie enjoyed fishing, doing yardwork, gardening and tending to the flowers, and traveling. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. SURVIVORS include his wife, Carolyn; 2 children: Laurie Toney, Brad Klug both of Muskegon; 3 grandchildren: Charles Thomas Klug, Nicholas Glen Toney, and Addison Jewell Klug; brother, Raymond (Darlene) Klug of Muskegon; 4 nieces and a nephew: Mindy (Matt) VanderJagt, Amy (Barry) Baas, Colleen (Allen) Abreu, Billy (Christine) Makinen, and Alison (John) Shelales. He was preceded in death by his parents. SERVICES for Charlie will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 18, 2019 at St. Mark Lutheran Church (4475 Henry St.) with Pastor Mark Gilson officiating. VISITATION will be from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100 and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery.
