Mr. Charles "Chuck" Morton's Obituary
Mr. Charles “Chuck” Morton, age 77, went home to be with his Lord early Sunday morning, April 14, 2013. He was born in Muskegon County on December 9, 1935 to Jesse and Sophie (Sasse) Morton and married the former Dixie Lee Start on July 29, 1955. Charles was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church where he had been a Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher, and also served on the executive board. He began working in business with his father at a young age, and later owned and operated several area businesses including Michigan Platers Equipment, C & H Industrial, and C & C General. He was a member of the Mona Lake Boat Club and enjoyed sailing, fishing, and traveling throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. He especially enjoyed his eight grandchildren. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Dixie; 3 children, Cynthia (Wade) Gravlin, Debra (Gary )Rose, Charles “Brad” (Laurel) Morton, all of Norton Shores; 8 grandchildren, Tyler and Morgan Gravlin, Megan, Jennifer, Danielle and Matthew Rose, Brandon and Alexandra Morton; 2 sisters, Olive Waltz, Dolly (Lee) Straley, both of Fort Myers, FL; many nieces and nephews, including a very close nephew, John (Kim) Miller. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Jesse Jr., David, and Benjamin; 2 sisters, Mary Kowalchik and Vivian Miller. THE FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 17, at Lakeside Baptist Church, with Pastor Ken Shady officiating. A private family interment will take place at Norton Cemetery. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service at church.
