Mr. Charles R. "Chuck" Bishop's Obituary
Mr. Charles R. “Chuck” Bishop, 88, went to be with his Lord early Monday morning, February 22, 2016. He was born December 8, 1927 to Jacob J. and Katherine (Broersma) Bishop in Muskegon and lived all of his life here. Chuck was a longtime member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He also had co-owned the Northshore Garage in N. Muskegon for 25 years before retiring in 1980. Chuck married Darlene “Dar” Brott on July 6, 1954 in Edgefield, SC and they were together for over 60 years before she passed away on July 23, 2011. Survivors include 5 children, Dale (Kathy) Bishop of Three Rivers, Sharon VanderStelt of Twin Lake, Jacob J. Bishop of Spring Lake, Sandra Bliss of Muskego, WI, Susan Luders of Fruitport; 8 grandchildren, Alyssa (Adam) Harper, Brandon (Laura) Bliss, Lindsey Bishop, Thor Anderson, Zachary Luders, Tyler Bishop, Breanne (Brandon) Jones, Devin Bliss; 1 great-grandson, Carson Lee Bliss; 2 sisters-in-law, Donna and Betty Bishop; several nieces and nephews. Chuck was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Carl, John “Bud”, Andrew and Willard Bishop; 2 sisters, Ruth Malda and Adeline DeWall. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 25, at the Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 695 Allen Ave., with Pastor Benjamin Oliveira officiating. Interment will be at Egelston Township Cemetery. Visitation at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210 will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday.
