Michiko and Rae Marie,
Cousin Ray and I were 13 months apart in age. He was raised in the Midwest and I was raised on the East Coast. It wasn't until many years later that we could enjoy being cousins.
Ray became a 'special' cousin to me when his Dad, Charles; my Dad, Blaine; Ray and I traveled from Michigan to southeastern Ohio for a family reunion. During that long trip by automobile, Ray and I sat in the backseat where he shared meaningful accounts of his service in Vietnam. It was my honor to listen to him.
I am thankful that he and I connected through phone calls during the months prior to September 7th. However, I am especially thankful that you shared the gift of time with him during the additional months of his life. He very much loved you both.
I am sad that I cannot travel from Minnesota to celebrate Ray's life on September 18th. Please know that I will often think of him, and each of you.
With family love,
Mimi Pool Hachfeld
