Mr. Charles "Charlie" Ryan's Obituary
Mr. Charles “Charlie” John Ryan, age 86, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at his home. Charlie was born August 7, 1930 to Jeremiah and Grace (Wilhelm) Ryan in Chicago, IL. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On September 11, 1959, he married Barbara Vriesman and she preceded him in death on July 9, 1981. Charlie was the owner and operator of Ryan’s Car Wash. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and VFW Post #446. He is SURVIVED by his children, Cathy (Larry) Greene, Chuck Ryan, Patrick (Celine) Ryan, Beth Ryan, Marilyn (Scott) Shawl and Jackie Ryan; grandchildren, Brian Greene, Adrianne (Tony) Miller, Holly, Laurel, Sean, Liam, and Declan Ryan, Brandon Keur, Brianna Keur, Jaret (Katie) Shawl, Hanna (Mike) Belrose, Jay Shawl, and Thomas Shawl; 4 great-grandchildren, and two on the way; brothers, William (Carol) Ryan and James Ryan; sister, Lolly (Jerry) Kamerschen; and several nieces and nephews. Charlie was also preceded in death by his brother, Jerry; stepbrother and sister-in-law, Clif (Liz) Popps; and sister-in-law, Rosemary Ryan. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Deacon Dave Kasprzyk presiding. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday with the Rosary will be prayed at 6 pm. Burial will take place in Egelston Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Harbor Hospice.
