Charles "Chuck/Bing" Schaub's Obituary
Mr. Charles V. “Bing/Chuck” Schaub, 76, passed away July 2, 2024, in Tehachapi, CA. He was born November 7, 1947, to Charles R. and Phyllis J. (Rooks) Schaub in Muskegon, and divided his time between Muskegon and Tehachapi, CA. Chuck was a U.S. Army veteran, a Bronze Star recipient, and worked as a remodeling contractor for many years. He was a lifelong liberal and had been involved with numerous human service efforts including the Old Newsboys/Goodfellows. He had owned a limousine service, was a volunteer with Summer Celebration for several years, a real estate agent, was a Boy Scout Executive, and also volunteered for the American Red Cross, helping families who suffered from fires and driving blood between counties. Bing was also a proud Michigan State Alumni. Chuck was a longtime friend of Bill W and took his message of sobriety to the imprisoned for many years. Chuck was well respected within the recovery community. Survivors include his wife Rena, son Charlie (Amanda) Schaub, stepson Robby Bolinger, three grandchildren Charles, Vala, and Ronan Schaub, eleven step grandchildren, including Ronen and Deegan; brothers Rodney (Margaret “Peggy”) Schaub, John “Jak” (Debbi) Schaub, Thomas (Mary Price) Schaub, Jim (Holly Buys) Schaub; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his first wife Linda Mae (Herbert) Schaub, stepfather Robert Forsythe, and granddaughter Linda Jean Marie Schaub. A service to remember and celebrate Bing’s life will be held Wednesday, August 14, at 1:00 PM at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Contributions in memory of Mr. Schaub may be made to Mission for Area People.
