Charles E. Stevens' Obituary
Mr. Charles E. Stevens, age 71, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 in Muskegon. He was born in Sioux City, Iowa on September 25, 1945 to Harold and Lainys (Hedges) Stevens and lived in the Muskegon area for over 50 years. On January 23, 1965, he married the former Jill McCartney in California and she preceded him in death June 24, 2007. Charles worked at Sappi Paper Mill for 48 years as an Electrician and was also a Union Steward prior to retiring. He attended the Journey Church, but he and his wife, Jill were former longtime members of the former Westwood Reformed Church. He enjoyed gardening, holidays, children and the Detroit Tigers but foremost was always his family. SURVIVORS include his children, John (Dawn) Stevens and Sheri (Michael) Hofmeyer; 2 grandchildren, Shae Stevens and Alyssa Hofmeyer; 1 brother, Mark Stevens and 1 sister,Carolyn (Dan) Shultz; 2 sisters-in-law, Marilyn McCartney and Judy Rosenberg; brother-in-law, Tony Nanna; special friends, Ron and Debbie Tufts; his constant canine companion “Maggie”. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Westwood Reformed Church, 3025 Glenside Blvd, Roosevelt Park. VISITATION will be held 10 AM-11 AM prior to the service. Burial will take place at Lakeside cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Harbor Hospice.
