Mr. Charles Harold Tawney's Obituary
Charles Harold Tawney, age 94, passed away May 9, 2019 at the Poppen Residence. Charlie was born February 9, 1925 to Leonard and Maudie (King) Tawney in Ensley Township in Newaygo County. He served his country in the US Army during and after WWII. On October 30, 1951 he married Phyllis Nelund. Charlie was employed as a machinist at Brunswick Corp. for 37 years until his retirement in 1987. He then worked with Avis Car Rental for the next 18 years. Charlie was a coin collector, enjoyed bowling, using his metal detector and working in the yard. He will be missed by Phyllis, his wife of 67 years; his children, Charles E. Tawney of Muskegon and Sandy (John) Colella of Norton Shores; and his grandson, Jason John-Charles Colella. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leonard E. Tawney; and sisters, Maxine Morgan and Jean Gillespie. A MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Lee Chapel family center, 6291 S.
