Mr. Charles "Chuck" Thies' Obituary
Mr. Charles “Chuck” G. Thies, age 87, passed away Wednesday evening, November 6, 2019, in Muskegon. He was born September 14, 1932 to Herman and Ruby (James) Thies in Big Lake, MN, and moved to Muskegon in 1936. Chuck worked as an electrician for Local 275 IBEW, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. On August 1, 1959 Chuck married Leida M. Nelson. Chuck enjoyed listening to and playing concertina music, was a member of the Grand Rapids Old Time Concertina Club, and was inducted into the World Concertina Congress Hall of Fame in 2002. He is survived by his wife along with 1 son: Kenneth C. (Elizabeth) Thies; 1 grandson: Benjamin Thies; 2 brothers: James Thies, Harley (Evelyn) Thies; 1 sister: Caroline Wichter. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers: Richard Thies and Howard Thies. The funeral service will be Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1215 E. Apple Ave. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Contributions in memory of Mr. Thies may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
