Charles E. Vida's Obituary
Charles E. Vida, age 85, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born June 1, 1934 in Muskegon to Steve and Theresa (Skrivanek) Vida and lived in the area all his life. On September 9, 1967, he married Deanna “Joan” Williams in Muskegon. Charles was a carpenter for Carpenters Local #100 and worked over 50 years for JC Construction and later as a supervisor for Boldt Construction. He retired in 1994 but kept his carpenter skills active well into retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Charles was a master gardener and canned much of his harvest – including his pickles for which he was well-known. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and always woodworking. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Joan Vida; 5 children, Steve Vida, Shelly (Steve) Mueller, Lora (Morry) Edson, David Vida, Theresa (Ron) Romans; 6 grandchildren, Stevie Mueller, Nick Mueller, Brenden Edson, Chaz Vida, Quinn Romans, Sawyer Romans; 1 aunt, Margaret Vida; 1 sister-in-law, Norma Vida; his beloved dog “Bo”; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Virginia Mason, and 1 brother, Tom Vida. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (150 E. Summit Ave.) with Rev. Fr. Philip A. Shangraw presiding. Visitation will be held 4-7 PM Friday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49441.
