Charles John "Chuck" Wahr's Obituary
Charles John “Chuck” Wahr, age 76, passed away on May 24, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on February 5, 1947, to Ambrose and Grace (Lahaye) Wahr in Muskegon. Chuck was an Elder in the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians. He worked 35 years for GTE as a Customer Engineer with a specialized education in installing some of the first 911 communication systems in Michigan. Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing, building model airplanes and specifically dancing with his wife. On October 8, 1965, he married Jeanette J. Vos in Muskegon and she survives him along with three children, Charlotte (Michael) Gabriel, Charles (Danelle) Wahr and John Wahr; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Gabriel, Kyle (Amy) Gabriel, Toby Gabriel, Samantha (Beth) Ricci, Alexandra Wahr, Jack Wahr and Geoffrey Martin; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas (Molly) Wahr, Philip (Rebecca) Wahr, Michael (Kim) Wahr; three sisters, Regina (David) Reed, Bonita (Ed) VanEtten and Phyllis Fritz; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter Wahr; and sister, Winona Peake. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Chuck will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 2, 2023 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Pastor Mark Deckinga and Gary DiPiazza officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 5-7pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.
