Charles "Chuck" Lyons' Obituary
Charles “Chuck” Lyons, age 78, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, November 2, 2006 at his home. He was born June 18, 1928, to John and Clara (Garbrecht) Lyons in West Olive, and he married Crystal M. Roossien on May 1, 1948 in Grand Haven. Chuck was a lifelong resident of Grand Haven and a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He was employed as a truck driver and equipment operator for Neitrings Coal and Dock. In his spare time, Chuck enjoyed small engine repair, playing cards, bowling, fishing, and traveling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and making his grandchildren feel special. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Crystal; 4 daughters: Sandra (Stephan) Barrett of Fayetteville, NC, Janet (Daniel) MacKeller of Grand Haven, Vicki MacKay of Grand Haven, and Nancy Mason of Walker; 9 grandchildren: Christopher Barrett, Stephanie (Daniel) Yentsch, Scott (Michelle) MacKeller, Joseph (Mary) MacKeller, Gregory (Courtney) MacKeller, Jessica (Merritt) Lucas, Jason (Cindy) MacKay, Elizabeth (David) Groenewoud, and Neal (fiancée Rachel Hilla) Mason; 13 great-grandchildren; his mother, Clara Lyons of Grand Haven; 2 sisters, Lorraine Neitring of Grand Haven and Ruth (James) Jensen of Bellefontaine, OH; 2 brothers, John (Shirley) Lyons of Baldwin and Dale (Valerie) Lyons of Fredrick, MD. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, John Lyons, in 1968. The funeral mass for Chuck will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Haven with Rev. William Langlois officiating. Friends may meet the family 2-4 and 7-9 Friday, November 3, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with a Scripture Service at 8 p.m. Interment will be in Lakeshore Cemetery.
