Charles "Chuck" A. Slater's Obituary
Mr. Charles A. “Chuck” Slater, age 59, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013. He was born September 16, 1953 in Grand Rapids, MI to Orval & Myrtle (Myers) Slater, and resided in the Muskegon area most of his life. Chuck was the owner of Pop-A-Top Tavern, and will be missed by his many friends and acquaintances. He previously worked at Lift Tech for over 20 years. Chuck loved to socialize with friends, ride his motorcycle and tinker with all of his projects. On January 22, 2000, he married the former Tammy Thrasher and she survives him along with his 3 sons, Curt (Teresa) Slater of N. Mankato, MN, Chris (Jackie) Slater of Holland, and Craig (Cassie) Slater of Muskegon; step-son, Joshua (Erin) Brooks of South Bend, IN; 5 grandchildren, Trenton, Isabelle, Grace, Braiden, and Kynzi; his mother, Myrtle Slater of FL; 2 sisters, Sandi Chartrand and Karen (John) Sprague also both of Florida; many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Nancy Thrasher; brother-in-law, Rick Thrasher; special aunt, Diane Jupa; and his very special dogs, Abbey and Bailee known as “his girls”. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Orval. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be 4:30PM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100.
