Charles E. Schertenlieb's Obituary
Mr. Charles E. Schertenlieb, age 97, passed away Friday, November 4, 2005 at a local nursing home. He was born August 8, 1908 in Watertown, Wisconsin, to Fred and Anna (Rothenbuler) Schertenlieb and lived all of his life in the West Michigan area. Prior to his retirement, he worked 38 years as an assembler for Teledyne Continental Motors. On April 12, 1952, he married the former Joy Marie Walker. He was a member of Dalton Baptist Church. He was also active with the Civilian Conservation Corps and was a union steward for UAW Local #113. He was an avid gardner. SURVIVORS include his wife, Joy Marie; 1 son, Dale (Nancy) Schertenlieb of Grand Haven; 3 step-children, Phyllis Monte of Montague, Peggy (Donald) MacMaster of Royal Oak, David (Marcia) Lash of Muskegon; 16 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; 1 brother, Fred (Ruth) Schertenlieb of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne Schertenlieb; 2 step-daughters, Beverly Cousineau and Bonnie Callahan; 1 step-son-in-law, Ed Monte; his parents; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Monday, November 7, 2005 at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210, with Rev. Eric Coulon officiating. VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service, 12-1 PM Monday. INTERMENT will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
