Charles E. "Charlie" Thompson's Obituary
Mr. Charles E. “Charlie” Thompson, age 79, passed away Friday evening, November 6, 2009. He was born February 20, 1930 in Ravenna, MI to Chancey and Mary (Brink) Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a United States Marine Corp Veteran. He worked 22 years at Lakey Foundry and 10 years for CWC Textron before retiring from Pinkerton’s Security after several years of employment. He was a member of the Cloverville Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and racing motorcycles. On December 23, 1992 he married Sandra K. Guimond in Muskegon and she survives him along with his son, Ken (Paula) Thompson-Gilbert of Ravenna; like a son, grandson, Charlie (Deanna) Linsley of Muskegon; step-daughter, JoAnn (Chris) Ross of Muskegon; step-son, Edward (Cindy) Guimond of Muskegon; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Wheater of Norton Shores; mother-in-law, Emma Shirk of Muskegon; many nieces, nephews; and best friends, Dee Pfhistner and Ed Whipple. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Norman and Ernie Thompson; and 2 sisters, Eileen Averill and Florence Portenga. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Cloverville Baptist Church (4345 Heights Ravenna Rd., Fruitport) with Rev. Joshua Rager officiating. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 5-8 PM Tuesday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 and one hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIALS to Harbor Hospice-Poppen House or to the Cloverville Baptist Church will be appreciated.
