Charles H. Landon, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Charles H. Landon, Jr., age 89, passed away Sunday morning, June 21, 2009. He was born December 31, 1919 in Branch, MI to Charles H. and Amy (Derby) Landon, Sr. Mr. Landon was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church. He worked for Teledyne Continental Motors for 37 years before retiring in 1977 and also owned and operated Landon’s Excavating for many years. Mr. Landon enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, and square dancing. On August 7, 1948 he married the former Ellen E. Smith in Detroit, MI and she preceded him in death on September 1, 2005. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Roger (Arlene) Smith of Marne, MI, Cheryl (James) Amstutz of Wyoming, MI, Larry (Linda) Landon, Joanne Balkema both of Muskegon; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Betty Barnes of Covington, KY; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 5 sisters. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at
