Charles J. Schutter's Obituary
Mr. Charles J. “Charlie” Schutter, age 97, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday morning, May 27, 2009 in Spring Lake, MI. He was born March 31, 1912 in Nunica, MI to Jacob and Bertha (Hayward) Schutter; and had been a life resident of the Muskegon area. Charlie had been the owner and proprietor of Schutter Feed and Hardware for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1962. He was a member of Gospel Chapel and had taught Sunday school for 43 years. He was one of the founders of Bair Lake Bible Camp, was a member of the Gideons, Muskegon Couples Bible Study, Orchard View Band Parents, the Muskegon Township Board of Appeals and of the Bridgeton Bible Chapel, where he lead services for eight years. On June 29, 1935 he married the former Estella M. Walker and she preceded him in death on July 18, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. SURVIVORS include 5 children, Janice (John) VanDyke of Spring Lake, Sharon (Wayne) Bomgaars of Norton Shores, Linda (David) Ruiter of Grand Haven, Kenneth (Lyn) Schutter of Dowagiac, MI and Terry (Kathy) Schutter of Union, MI; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Grandpa Pal”. SERVICES will be 1PM Saturday, May 30, 2009, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.,6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100). VISITATION with Charlie’s family will be 6-8PM Friday. For a more lasting memorial, you are asked to consider the Bair Lake Bible Camp.
