Charles W. Cooper, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Charles Wesley Cooper, Jr., age 78, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009. Mr. Cooper was born May 30, 1930 to Charles W. Sr. and Gertrude (Huntoon) Cooper in Muskegon. On September 9, 1950 he married Kathleen “Katie” A. Kennebeck. He was Vice President of Personnel and Safety at Wolverine Trucking in Muskegon for 25 years, and then Safety Director at Keller Transfer in Grand Rapids for 16 years until his retirement. Chuck always lent a helping hand to anyone who needed it and always had a positive attitude. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church since 1953. Along with his loving wife, Katie, he is survived by his children, Tim (June) Cooper of Montague, Merlinda (Rick) Emerson of East Lansing, Annmarie Cooper of Greenville, Lisa (Jeff) Crampton of Grand Rapids and Christine (Rick) South of Muskegon; 14 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Geraldine Rupar and Reva Nellis, and one brother, Willard Cooper. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 11, 2009 at St. James Catholic Church, 5179 Dowling St. with Rev. Fr. Donn Tufts presiding. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. James Catholic Church’s Seat Cushion Fund.
