Charley Roesch, MD's Obituary
Charley Roesch MD passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home Friday, February 19, 2016. He was born in Warsaw, Indiana November 9, 1951 to parents Nancy and Ryland Roesch MD. Charley was dedicated to the sciences and accomplished many achievements in his lifetime: A Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Purdue University in 1974, MS in 1976 (Purdue), Ph.D. in 1979 in Pharmacology (Purdue). He graduated from Indiana University Medical School in 1983. His anesthesia internship and residency was at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Charley practiced in Muskegon with Anesthesia Associates at Mercy Hospital for 24 years until his retirement in 2010. Charley married the love of his life, Terri in 1990. He earned his pilot’s license at age 17. Although an enjoyable hobby, the marriage license overrode the pilot’s license and his hobby turned to scratch building and flying remote controlled airplanes. He was a devoted husband indeed. Charley enjoyed boating, kayaking and volunteering on the USS Silversides submarine where he served as a board member for many years. Charley is survived by his loving wife, Terri; 3 step-sons: Danny, Brian, Tracy (Jennifer) Byers; mother, Nancy; brothers: Tom (Terry), John (Laura); 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and his 4-legged children: Widget, Bradi and Tasha. He was preceded in death by his father, Ryland; brother, Daniel; sister-in-law, Lynne Chandonnet and devoted companions: Pookie and Sammy. All who knew Charley will cherish memories of his gentleness, humbleness and love for his wife, family and friends. He will be deeply missed. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff of Mercy VNS/Hospice organization. In particular, the expert and compassionate care given by Pam Buit RN, Katelyn Seitz RN, Lisa Carlson CNA and Lynn Smith MSW were invaluable and sincerely appreciated. Charley was an avid animal lover. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to any local animal rescue organization, Mercy VNS/Hospice, or any charity of your choice. A VISITATION with the family is being held Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 2-5 PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. A private memorial service is to be held at a later date.
