Chester W. Nerheim's Obituary
Chester W. “Chet” Nerheim, 81, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2004. He was born in Ludington on September 11th, 1923 to Steffen and Mabel (Johnson) Nerheim. He graduated from Ludington High School, attended Detroit Business School and Michigan State University. He also served as a First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps in the CBI Theater during WWII.On October 9th, 1948 he married Margery “Meg” Gerbers. She survives him along with two sons, Captain Steven and Chris (Jacobs) of Carlisle PA, Thomas and Kathy (Dorato); and two daughters, Polly and Dan Doctor and Catherine and Mark Wiseman, all of Norton Shores; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings and a granddaughter.Chet spent his career in sales and promotion. He was a member and former Vice-president of the Michigan Jay Cees, a member of the Hump Pilots Association and a life- long member of the Elks and a member of First Presbyterian Church.He loved reading, music, dancing, travel, Fricano’s Pizza and his family.SERVICES will be 2PM Thursday, October 28, 2004, at First Presbyterian Church (2577 Wickham Dr at Sherman Blvd.) with the Rev. Dr. Fred Halde officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service.
