Kim
To celebrate the life of Christina, I virtually attended mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral this morning, only to realize today is the Memorial of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This brought me back to my childhood memories of Christina and her best friend Kit. They both had a devotion to the Blessed Mother, how special to recognize her on this day. I remember Christina’s sense of fashion and not to mention her infamous high heels. She was a “firecracker”! When she would stop by for a quick visit, it was often with one of her delicious desserts, my favorite was the decadent trifle. In my late teenage years, every Sunday, Leenie and I would have a planned dinner at Christina and Joe’s. We would sit at the kitchenette area, and Joe would often arrive from downstairs to chat as she prepared our plates. Of course, dinner was never complete until you had dessert. I remember Christina as a talented seamstress, and she could knit a sweater in a weekend. Even though I moved away many years ago, I could always count on seeing her during a visit to Muskegon. I will miss her but I know there were so many who were welcoming her as she laid her eyes to rest.
