Christine A. Kelly's Obituary
Christine A. Kelly, age 72 passed away late Monday evening, November 4, 2019 surrounded by friends and family. She was born on September 30, 1947, to Donald and Rheata (Peterson) Hesling in Muskegon, MI and has lived there her whole life. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University. On May 1, 1971 she married the love of her life, L. Philip Kelly in Muskegon at St. Jean's Church. Together they cherished 48 years of endless memories. She and her husband Phil loved their faith and were active members of St. Francis de Sales Church. Christine was dedicated to education, enjoyed gardening and reading, and loved shopping with her friends. Christine was passionate about family traditions such as the Hesling Christmas Eve parties, birthdays, big family dinners, summer picnics at Ross Park and bunny cakes for Easter. She was her grandchildren’s number one supporter and enjoyed being involved in anything they participated in. Above all things, she loved her family; being a mother and a grandmother. Christine will always be remembered by her grandchildren for her sleepovers, snack trays, and working together to make big breakfasts. Christine had tireless enthusiasm for her family. She especially loved the holidays; spending time with family decorating and cookie baking. She will be missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her husband, L. Philip Kelly; 3 children; Laura (Daryn) Kelsey – Tubbergen, Brian (Carrie) Kelly and Andy Kelly; 8 grandchildren, Blake, Brooke, Emma, Claire, Lydia, Tyler, Alex and Drew; 2 brothers, David Hesling and Daniel (Joyce) Hesling; 5 sisters, Mary Kelly, Carol Hesling, Joanne Pellegrini, Theresa DeMorrow and Debra (Mike Clark) Hesling; sister-in-law, Patricia Hesling; brother-in-law, Mike Jolman and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Donald Hesling, Dennis Hesling and Thomas Hesling; 2 sisters, Judy Jolman and Partrice Dewald; sister-in-law, Donna Hesling; 2 brothers-in-law, Brian Kelly and Rubens Pellegrini; nephews, Joe Casarez and Daniel Kelly; and niece Stefanie Pellegrini. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 2929 McCracken St., Norton Shores, MI 49441. Visitation will be held from 5-8:00PM on Friday, November 8, 2019 at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI 49442 with a Scripture Service at 7:00PM and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Christine will be laid to rest at St. Mary's cemetery.
